Does Skilling Still Have Control?

Here is a story in the Houston Chronicle about Jeffrey Skilling’s options for where he will serve his sentence for his involvement in the Enron catastrophe. Should he – and other corporate criminals – be able to have significant influence over where they will serve? I’ll be interested to hear your opinions.

As for me, I think it makes sense that a request should be allowed, even if not always honored. On the other hand, I can’t really believe that such an option is available to most offenders and, if not, are we not providing a different type of justice to high level white collar criminals? If that is the case – as I suspect is true – then is certainly smacks of unjustly differential treatment.
